An interview with On the One:
Here you go, thanks for everything, I have
added (the band’s) response to the original email for you. Thank
you again – Martina Rocks, band manager.
1. Hi guys! Thanks for taking the time
to introduce yourselves. I'm guessing that the band name "On the
One" stems from a jazz/musical term - maybe "on the first beat,"
or something like that. Am I in the right ballpark here?
Yes “On the One” stems from the first beat
of the measure…(it comes from) bands like James Brown and Prince –
where a band that is “On the One” is funky!
2. You've been in
Hood River
before - how has the crowd been in past shows and why should folks
come see your band?
People should come see us if they are
looking for a funky dance party! Yes we have been there in the
past and people where commenting, wishing that more people knew
about the show, because everyone would love “On the One.”
3. Who's in your top five for musical
influences?
James Brown, Soulive, Prince, KDTU, Maceo
Parker.
4. Let's talk about "Throwdown,." your
new live CD. It's funny, in some of my music circles, we've
actually used that term to describe some of our gigs. It's kind of
like a complete party atmosphere for us. What does it mean for you
guys?
The same really, as far as an atmosphere,
because our show is a dance party. But musically to “throwdown”
means to play as hard as you can, giving the music your
ALL!
5. How does the band get from point A
to point B? Bus? Limo? Van? Separate cars? Bikes? Describe a
typical band road trip.
If I could have the whole band ride beach
cruisers, we might be able to save money on gas -- but it would
take us a week to get to Oregon!…Ha
Ha!….We rock a Sprinter van, even though I’m in love with Prevost
tour buses. Again, we try to save on fuel economy!
6. Where can fans get your new CD and
check out your stuff?
Our website
www.ontheonemusic.com on CDbaby or itunes!
www.myspace.com/ontheone
hey thanks you guys and have a good
show!
