Planning underway for Class of 2007 grad party

It will be June before we know it.

Planning has begun for the Hood River Valley High School Class of 2007 All-Night Graduation Party, according to parents of seniors who organize the event.

This party is organized and put on by parents of the graduating seniors and the goal is to offer a safe and alcohol-free opportunity for the entire senior class to celebrate their accomplishments.

Organizers want to involve as many seniors as possible, which means fund raising is underway to keep the event affordable. In the past, the community has heavily supported the event, which is held annually at the Hood River Elks Lodge shortly after the commencement ceremonies are over at Hood River Valley High School.

The new graduates dine, swim, dance, and play games, with prizes donated by businesses and the community. At the end of the party, shortly before dawn, a drawing is held for an automobile that has been fixed up and detailed by a collection of local auto shops and other businesses.

Businesses or community members who wish to help may call Becki at 386-2510 or Melissa at 386-6789.

Any parents are welcome to attend the monthly planning meetings which are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the high school commons.
