Snow falls for what may be the first time on a “General Lee”
car, based on the TV show and Warner Bros. film “Dukes of
Hazzard.” The body of the 1969 Charger is rolled onto a trailer
Monday at Hood River’s First Place Finish, where owner Don
Benefield and company did the finish work for Smith Bros.
Restorations of Lyle, giving the car the same look as the famed
car from fictional Hazzard County, Ga. It’s Joe and Bob Smith’s
seventh General Lee, but the first sub-contract to First Place,
which Benefield started two years ago. ”They were recommended to
us and we’re really happy with their work,” Joe Smith said. The
restored Charger gets a new engine, brakes and other “innards,”
and will sell to a Virginia buyer for $50,000. |
