$100 and now become eligible for the year-end award of $1,500.
*****
Miranda is described as an outstanding individual who is
intelligent, very caring, and very involved, who works extremely
hard both at school and in the community. She has a strong work
ethic and a great sense of humor, and knows how to take charge
and get things done.
She has been involved in the Big Brothers-Big Sisters program
for two years, has helped with Special Olympics since the 9th
grade and Pioneers Club since the 10th grade. She has also
participated in school community events such as Community Work
Day, canned food drives, Katrina/tsunami relief efforts and
National Honor Society events. She is also a member of Future
Business Leaders of America and the French Club.
Miranda is the daughter of Russell and Helen Fish and has an
older brother, Logan, and a younger sister, Emma. She plans to
attend a four-year college in Oregon and would like to become a
teacher. Her interests are in the area of history.
In her spare time Miranda enjoys working and golf. If she could
change something in the world she would like to see us clean up
the environment in which we live.

Dane Jacobson wants to become a pilot. To help him achieve that
goal he has applied for admission to the U.S. Naval Academy. He
has received a nomination from Congressman Greg Walden and now
must wait until May to see if he will be selected to attend the
Academy. If that doesn’t work out he will attend a four-year
college with an R.O.T.C. program.
Dane has worked from 2001 to 2003 as a ski school assistant at
Mt. Hood Meadows. He has spent the last three years as the Web
designer/shipping manager at Windance Sailboards. He has also
volunteered as an assistant at Brookside Manor Assisted Living.
His honors include an Award of Excellence in Science in 2003,
Award of Achievement in 2005 and a varsity letter in golf. His
hobbies include windsurfing, skiing, snowboarding, building and
fixing computers, golfing and running.
Dane is the son of Frank and Pam Jacobson. He has a younger
sister, Eryn, a sophomore at HRVHS.
If Dane could make a change in the world today it would be to
try and make it a safer place by being in the military.

The Elks Lodge would like to congratulate both of these young
adults and their families. They are outstanding examples of
young people making a difference in their community. |
