High schoolers to honor senior citizens

It’s the best of all possible worlds, where generations relax and enjoy each others’ company, according to Honor Society president Tom Wanzek.

That’s the hope of the Hood River Valley High School National Honor Society as the group plans a tea and dance for their elders on Sunday, April 23, 4 to 6 p.m. at Providence Down Manor in Hood River.

The young scholars want to honor and learn from the older members of the community, according to Wanzek.

The complimentary tea and dance, called “Spring Fling,” will include live music, a dance space, spring decorations, and refreshments.

It will also provide plenty of time for the elders to tell the youngers about what life was like when they were in high school, and maybe a thing or two they’ve learned since then.

“Many of us don’t have grandparents nearby, so we really want to meet and get to know some of our older residents,” Wanzek said. “We want to honor them for all they have done for our society.”

To reserve a spot at the party, call Providence Down Manor, (541) 387-8290.
