The Hood River Valley High School music department says goodbye
to nearly 25 graduating senior instrumentalists and singers at
the Farewell Concert on Monday, June 5.
Featured on the free, 7 p.m. program will be the Chamber
Singers, Wind Ensemble, and several solos, duets, and the
traditional premiere of the Senior Song, this year penned by
Joel Valle and Katie Anderson.
The Chamber Singers, which recently took sixth place at the OSAA
State Choir Contest, will present music from that competition as
well as new music the group has been rehearsing since State.
The Wind Ensemble will present a varied and challenging program,
including music by Bach, Giovannini, and others.
Mark Steighner, music director, says that this group of seniors
is a particularly talented and involved group. Two hand-crafted
music stands donated by Russ Guppy will be awarded to
outstanding senior musicians, as has been the tradition for
nearly 10 years. |
