North Cheatham of Hood River has been elected to serve as vice chair for Seattle-based Northwest Sustainable Energy for Economic Development.

The organization has projects in four states which promote sustainable energy through energy conservation and efficiency; renewable energy outreach and education; and community-scale development of wind and solar energy. Cheatham has previously served as NWSEED treasurer.

Locally, NWSEED’s projects include three “Our Wind Coop” 10-kW wind turbines in White Salmon and Goldendale. In these projects NWSEED assisted with funding and technical support for landowners who have installed wind generators to offset their electricity bills.
