The first Columbia River Gorge Makeover was a huge success, according to its organizers.

On the evening of Aug.15 the new and improved Brandy Miller was revealed.

Her new look was presented to her friends and family at a private party at Foils Salon.

“The response was overwhelming for both Miller and for her guests,” said Dawna Armstrong, aesthetician at Foils.

Miller’s journey began back in June when she was selected out of many applicants for the Gorge Makeover. Miller is a single mother struggling to take care of herself and her 3-year-old son.

It has been very challenging because her son has had severe allergies since he was born. She has had to be available to take him to many doctors’ appointments while holding down a job and paying for many expensive medications, according to Armstrong.

“He is now on five different medications but is doing better than ever and they are hopeful that the worst is behind them,” said Armstrong. “Since Miller has been focusing on her child, she has not been focusing on herself and we thought she has been such a great mother that she deserved some TLC.”

Miller’s makeover started in the dentist’s chair at Dr. Staci Hanson’s office in White Salmon. Miller received full-mouth comprehensive care which also included the cosmetic component of teeth whitening, tooth-colored fillings and porcelain veneers.

The ladies from Foils Salon Day Spa did her hair, makeup, facials, waxing and nails. Boutique Nouveau provided Miller with a dress, shoes and jewelry.

Trillium Café catered the reveal party with “a wonderful assortment of appetizers,” Armstrong said.

Miller had a professional photo session afterwards with PhotoVlado.

“Brandy looked ready to take on the world and we all wish her the best of luck,” Armstrong said.
