The Memory Garden at Hospice of the Gorge is expected to be finished and open to the public in October.

Currently, the walls are in and stucco and color applied; the arbors are built; and much of the flooring is installed.

“After two years, and thanks to the hard work and generosity of the community, the garden is becoming a reality,” said executive director Deborah Whiting Jaques. “It’s been fascinating to watch the progress.”

The Memory Garden was designed by local landscape architect Marion McNew of Mount Hood Gardens; hardscape has been supplied by Gjino’s Masonry. Sponsorship opportunities still exist, including fountains, benches, vases, tiles and a pergola.

More information about the Memory Garden or its features available for sponsorship is available from Hospice of the Gorge at 387-6449 or toll-free, (866) 680-6449. Donations for the Memory Garden (donors should designate such) may be sent to Hospice of the Gorge, P.O. Box 36, Hood River, OR 97031.
