The “Taste of Tsuruta”
benefit dinner expands and moves to a new location this year.
The benefit for the Hood
River Tsuruta Sister City program returns Jan. 26, 6 p.m., at
Hood River Hotel banquet room, 102 Oak St.
The dinner features
authentic Japanese cuisine.
Tickets cost $25 per
person or $40 per couple, and are available at Hood River Hotel,
Cascade Travel, Waucoma Bookstore, and Cascade Central Credit
Union.
Reservations are
requested, but tickets may be purchased at the door.
All proceeds go to
furthering the 31-year-old cultural exchange program between
Hood River and Tsuruta, in northern Japan. Projects in 2008
include the annual March visit of junior high students from
Tsuruta to Hood River and a visit in August of students from
Hood River to Tsuruta.
An auction is planned on Jan. 26, with
Steve Lindley as auctioneer. No “market table” will be held,
though some objects from past market tables can be incorporated
into the silent auction.
