The Hood River County
Education Foundation has awarded 17 grants to teachers who
exemplify excellence in education.
Teachers write grants
for projects to promote student development in their classroom
or school. These innovative ideas are reviewed and scored by a
committee.
All of the teachers
should be commended for their efforts whether their ideas
received funding or not, according to Mike Schend of the
Foundation.
It is amazing to see
the large number of dedicated teachers that want to improve
educational opportunities for their students, Schend said.
The majority of the
funds used for the teacher grants were generated from the
proceeds from the Trail Band Christmas Concert in December.
