New board members to join Town Hall

The Mt. Hood Town Hall Board of Directors held its annual meeting and potluck on June 5.

The directors thanked outgoing board members Doug Sharkey, Kristi Hardman, Sandi Borowy and Ted Regentin for their dedicated and diligent service in promoting the mission and vision of the Mt Hood Town Hall. Each of them helped in developing the three-year Strategic Plan, fund-raising for the current renovation and keeping the building open and accessible to the community.

The board welcomed new board members Christina McGhee, Angie Green, Kathryn McElwee, Kristin Reese, Libby Rossknecht and Sophie Summersett.

“Our new board members have brought with them a wonderful array of skills, enthusiasm, vision and energy,” according to board chair Revelyn Rawdin.

McElwee will chair the committee for developing classes and community programs. According to Rawdin:

Reese brings a wealth of experience as our new marketing director. Summersett has taken on the task of treasurer. McGhee and Green are directing our landscape design project as well as spearheading a young children’s play park, playgroup and summer programs. Rossknecht brings valuable skills as an engineer and enjoys sharing her knowledge to teach other women do-it-yourself skills.

“We are also quite pleased that numerous members of the community have expressed interest in using the building and grounds for various programs, events, classes and festivals,” Rawdin said. “Pat Case has donated many hours to designing our Web page that will include a calendar of events and classes, news, history and rental information.

“Ed Salminen donated our first-year domain name and Web site. Cara Vance, NeCole Webster and Katherine Arbon would like to use the hall for drama productions. Levi Vance will be working on the play park for his Eagle Scout project.”

Rawdin continued, “The renovation project is moving along beautifully due to the dedicated effort of Dean Guess from Hood River County.

“Although slightly behind schedule we hope to be finished by late summer and are planning our grand re-opening party in early fall,” Rawdin said.
