Put a name on a special hat at HR store on Thursday

On Thursday, Sept. 20, Small Planet Trading, at 202 Cascade Ave., will give 25 percent of purchase proceeds to the Race for the Cure.

The Susan G. Komen Foundation raises money through the Race and other events for breast cancer education, prevention and research. Featured in the store on Thursday will be locally handcrafted items made by Mensajeras de Esperanza (Messengers of Hope), a breast cancer survivors group.

Shop co-owner DeLona Campos-Davis runs the Race for the Cure in memory of her mother, Lona Hattenhauer Davis, who died 17 years ago this week from breast cancer. This year Campos-Davis will run wearing a hat with the names of people touched by breast cancer.
