Local volunteers are
collecting simple shoe box gifts personally packed by children,
families and individuals in Hood River County. The shoe box
gifts will be sorted and sent by whatever means necessary — sea
containers, trucks, buses, trains, airplanes, helicopters,
camels, even dog sleds — to reach suffering children around the
world.
The local collection
site is Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1140 Tucker Road.
Collection hours are noon-1 p.m. Nov. 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16; 10
a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17; 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov.
18; and 9-10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19.
Fill shoe boxes with
school supplies, toys, necessity items, candy, and a letter of
encouragement.
Step-by-step shoe box
packing instructions are available at

Operation Christmas Child is an annual
project of Samaritan’s Purse International Relief. This project
has a worldwide goal in 2007 of reaching 8 million children who
live in more than 100 countries from Iraq to North Korea. These
children live in difficult circumstances and are reached through
their schools, orphanages, refugee camps, hospitals and local
churches.
