This Morning
This morning when I get up
I’m going to do everything right.
No slip ups!
I will have one cup of coffee,
Not two.
Like a solitary mountain climber
I will pick a point higher up
And go for it.
I will breathe in,
Breathe out,
Mindfully.
I will stay out of the fast lane
I will try to keep up in the slow.
At work I will only smile
At those I love
Or when I am happy.
I will be especially careful
Not to smile at the telephone
As if there were a person present.
I won’t think about money all the time.
