Joan Eastwood
Joan Patricia Eastwood, a Hood River, Ore.,
resident, died Dec. 31, 2007, at her residence. She was 79 years
of age.
Joan was born Dec. 29, 1928, in Lafayette,
Ind., the youngest daughter to Charles and Addye (Bolton)
Hartley. She married George Eastwood in 1946 while he was
serving in the U.S. Navy and stationed in Pensacola, Fla.
Upon his retirement from the service in 1963,
they moved with their family to Portland, Ore. George was then
employed with the U.S. Postal Service and both were active in
the Fleet Reserve.
In 1977 George retired again and they moved
to Hood River and built their home together. Joan was active in
the Hood River Art Club and also wrote poetry. In November 2004,
the Hood River News published an article written by Joan about
growing up during the Great Depression.
She is survived by her husband, George; her
daughter, Laura; sons George and Charles; and sister, Jean
Hartley. Seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also
survive.
