Kenneth Potter
Kenneth Potter, 74, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at a
Portland hospital. He and his wife, Jan, moved from Southern
California to Mt. Hood in November of 2006.
Ken served in the U.S. Army near Nuremberg,
Germany, from 1953 till 1955. He had the opportunity to return
to his old base in 1985, which he enjoyed very much.
He moved to California in 1957 and worked for
Wegge Motors in Pasadena for 10 years, then for Claude Short
Dodge in Santa Monica for 24 years until his retirement in 1993.
Ken was born June 15, 1933, in Shidler,
Okla., to M.K. and Berlee Mae (Beck) Potter. He was the first of
three boys.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter,
Carol (husband Steve); one son, Allen; and two grandsons, Riley
and Cody Potter. He is also survived by one brother, Dennis, of
Sapulpa, Okla.
A gathering of friends and family will be
held at the residence of Fred and Patricia Paige in Mt. Hood on
Feb. 2.
Molly Calmettes
Cremation rites have been held for Molly Ann
Calmettes, 53, of North Bend, Ore., under the direction of
Nelson’s Bay Area Mortuary.
Molly was born March 20, 1954, at Hood River,
Ore., the daughter of Raymond and Bonnie Jean (Edington)
Calmettes. She has lived in North Bend at the Star of Hope Group
Home since moving from Salem in 1991.
Molly enjoyed listening to music, watching
musicals on TV and spending time with her cat, Zoe. She was full
of love and all who knew her loved her and will miss her.
She is survived by her parents, Ray and
Bonnie Calmettes, of Hood River, Ore.; brothers and
sisters-in-law Mike and Ellen Calmettes of Modesto, Calif., Tim
and Kara Calmettes, of Sisters, Ore., and Dave and Lisa
Calmettes, of Milwaukie, Ore.; five nephews, two nieces and two
great-nieces.

Irene Haworth
Irene Dorothy Haworth died at the Hood River
Care Center on Jan. 16, 2008, at the age of 77.
She was born June 7, 1930, to William and
Ruth (Terry) Rowe. She grew up in Yonkers, N.Y., attending St.
Denis Catholic School and Commerce High School.
She enjoyed a high-spirited early life living
in several locations in the United States. She dealt blackjack
opening night at the Cal-Nev Casino in Reno and had other
adventurous trips to Alaska before settling down to marry Lester
“Festus” Haworth; they married in White Salmon and lived in
Underwood until she retired from Washington State Social
Services and Lester from a full range of logging endeavors.
After retiring they traveled throughout the
western United States and Canada and upon returning moved to
Hood River and then on to The Dalles.
Irene is survived and will be dearly missed
for her dry and well-timed sense of humor by her son, Dennis
Campbell, of Reno, Nev.; stepdaughters Glenda, Jeanne and
Brenda; three granddaughters, a great-granddaughter and all the
many friends and acquaintances she has collected over the years.
Irene and Lester will be interred together at
noon Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the White Salmon Cemetery, where
family and friends are encouraged to share memories about either
Lester or Irene. Flowers may be sent, although not recommended
by her family.
