Roberta Mae Crane
Roberta Mae Crane, a Hood River, Ore.,
resident, died April 2, 2008, at the Hood River Care Center. She
was 73 years of age.
Services will be held Friday, April 25, at 10
a.m. at Anderson’s Tribute Center. Interment will be at
Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
Roberta was born April 22, 1934, in Dover,
Del., to Orin and Dorothy (Varney) Crane, the oldest of nine
children. She was the first person in her family to graduate
from high school in 1953.
Roberta was responsible for taking care of
her siblings from a very early age while her father traveled to
find work. Roberta enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps in 1955,
and was stationed at Fort Benning, Ga.
Following her discharge from the Army in
1958, she returned to Delaware to help her parents care for the
family. One of Roberta’s favorite memories was of all nine
children piling into her father’s Cadillac and taking long
family trips. Roberta enjoyed the trips so much she took three
cross-country trips across the United States prior to settling
in Hood River in 1980.
Roberta held many jobs throughout her life;
the longest was working for the Hood River Care Center for 23
years.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents
and sister, Dora.
She is survived by her (estranged) siblings
and her nephew, Colby Crane, and his wife, Becci, of Hood River.
As an avid animal lover her whole life, it is
requested that donations be made in her name to the Home At Last
Animal Shelter in care of Anderson’s Tribute Center (Funerals,

Inez Henry
Inez Henry passed away April 16, 2008, at the
Hood River Care Center.
A service to celebrate her life is scheduled
for 5 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Anderson’s Tribute Center with
a dinner reception to follow. Family friend Frank Akin will be
the master of ceremonies and Chaplain Steve Lusk will share.
Graveside rites will follow at 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, April 29, at the Memory Garden Memorial Park, 455 W.
Central Ave., Brea, Calif.
Inez was born May 24, 1924, at Pocatello,
Idaho, to Lyman O. Snow and Clara May Snyder. She was the middle
child with two brothers: her elder brother, Jack Kellogg, and
younger brother, Lawrence Snow.
Her dad drowned in a fishing accident on the
Snake River when she was 12. Later the family move to Los
Angeles where she met her husband, Les Henry Sr., in 1941 while
working in the main office of Safeway Stores Inc. They were
married in July 1941.
Inez and Les Sr. had three children: Diana,
Les Jr. and Patricia. The family first lived In Compton, Calif.,
until 1952 when they moved to Whittier, Calif. (north Orange
County).
Les Sr. was an executive for Safeway Stores
and Inez was an active housewife very much involved in the
raising of her children. She loved family gatherings and many
times hosted them at he home. She was a great cook and known for
joining in on the occasional family food fight. More than 40
members of her family are coming to Hood River Saturday to help
celebrate her life.
In 1979 Les Sr. passed away from cancer. Inez
continued raising Patricia; Diana lived with her family in
Southern California and Les Jr. and his family had moved to Hood
River, Ore.
Inez became a bingo fanatic. She and Patti
would travel to bingo parlors throughout Orange County making
new friends and, according to her, also making money playing
bingo.
In 2003 Inez and Patti moved to Hillsboro
Ore., living near Diana and her family, who had previously moved
to Hillsboro. Later in 2005 Inez moved to Hawks Ridge Assisted
Living, Hood River, where once again she found bingo and made
more friends.
Inez was a person with spunk. If things were
quiet she would make them lively. She was outgoing and made
friends easy. She was a super mother, grandma and great-grandma.
She loved her family, friends and God and couldn’t wait to move
on and be with Les Sr. again. She lived a full life and died in
peace. She will be sorrowfully missed — but with a smile.
Inez is survived by her children, Les Jr. and
Patti M. Henry, of Hood River, Ore., Diana Taylor, Jacquie Neal,
Robert Taylor and Patricia Dorine Henry, of Beaverton, Ore.;
grandchildren Clint Henry, Matthew Taylor, Brian Henry, Heather
Taylor, Jeff Henry, Brian Howell and Danny Howell; and
great-grandchildren Jason Henry, Issak Henry, Nickolas Watling,
Allison Oroz, Aidan Watling, Alex Taylor and Sadie Henry.
In addition to her parents and husband, Inez
was also preceded in death by her two brothers and
daughter-in-law, Cindy Henry.
The family suggests that memorial
contribution be made in memory of Inez to Edwards Center,
Beaverton, Ore., and sent in care of Anderson’s.
Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson’s Tribute
