Betty May Rutherford
passed away Jan. 25, 2008, at the Hood River Care Center.
She was born Dec. 10,
1919, at Vallejo, Calif., to Clarence and Florence May (Yates)
Leaverton. Betty grew up in California, she moved to Medford,
Ore., and then back to San Francisco with her family.
On June 9, 1945, Betty
married Albert “Al” T. Rutherford in California and to this
union was blessed two girls and blended their existing children
for a houseful. The family moved to Cascade Locks in 1974 and
then to the Hood River Valley in February of 1975. Albert passed
away in 1977.
Betty has been active
with the Hood River Southern Baptist Church since 1974, both as
a parishioner and their bookkeeper. She had a strong faith and
love of her Lord and Savior.
Betty is survived and
will be dearly missed by six children: Alice Marie Stubblefield,
of Hood River, Ore., Florence Catherine Grindheim, of Davis,
Calif., Judith Ann Liles, of Sparks, Nev., Thomas Rutherford, of
Kent, Wash., William Rutherford, of Towalame, Calif., and Larry
Grindheim, of Stockton, Calif.; numerous grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, other family and
many friends.
In addition to her
parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sons, Tom
Grindheim, who died as an infant, and Albert Thomas Rutherford,
in 1999.
A time to mourn her
passing and celebrate her life is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday,
May 17, at the Tucker Road Baptist Church of Hood River. Pastor
Joe Gonzalez will officiate.
