Eric Taylor plays June 18
Eric Taylor, one of today's top
performing songwriters, returns to The Dalles Civic Auditorium
for a concert Thursday, June 18. Music starts at 7 p.m. and
tickets are $15.
Taylor’s new CD “Hollywood Pocketknife”
has been hailed by Sing Out! magazine as “authoritative
singing.....ranking among his finest works.”

‘Talking With’
auditions June 14
Auditions for the CAST production of
“Talking With....” will be held June 14 at 1 p.m. and June 15
and 16 at 6:30 p.m. at Columbia Center for the Arts.
“Talking With....” by Jane Martin, is a
study of love, loneliness and obsession mixed liberally with
humor. Monologues by eleven different women run the gamut from a
young “stressed out” auditioning actress, a woman in her 30s
who’s recently lost her mother, to an elderly lady who aspires
to live in a McDonald’s restaurant.
A wide range of roles are available for
women ages 16 to 75. Anyone who wishes to review a script prior
to the auditions should contact the director, Glenn Harris, at
386-5089.
Rehearsals will begin at the end of July
with the play opening on Oct. 8.
Purple Ball at River City
Local and regional music hits the stage
this week at the River City Saloon. On Friday, June 5, Spruce
Bauer and Tony Amadao will open for Passafire, a band hailing
from Savannah Ga. Check out

On Saturday, June 6, the River
City is hosting the second annual Purple Ball, an event
celebrating Prince's birthday. The band will be performing
Prince music all evening.

Finally, on Sunday, June 14, the
River City Saloon and the Naked Winery will hold an anniversary

Mark Chesnutt plays The Dalles
Country music artist Mark Chesnutt is
coming to the Granada Theatre in The Dalles on Saturday, June
20. Music starts at 8 p.m. and tickets for general seating are
$50.
With five gold albums and 12
number 1 hits, Chesnutt is celebrating a 20-year career in the
country music industry. Chesnutt’s new CD “Rollin with the Flow”
features the listener-requested single “She Never Got Me Over
You.”
Open Jam at Thirsty Woman
On Sunday, June 7, the Chill'in and
Grill'in Series continues with an Open Bluegrass Jam
hosted by Peny Wallace and friends. All are invited to a
friendly jam from 5-7 p.m.
On Friday, June 12, it’s a special
performance from the Bram Brata Tri Cities Steel Band, from
5:30-7:30 p.m. With close to 30 members, this traveling group of

Miralee Ferrell at Waucoma
Waucoma Bookstore is hosting local Gorge
author Miralee Ferrell for a book signing on Friday, June 5,
from 5-8 p.m. Ferrell will be signing her new book “Love Finds
You in Last Chance, California.”
The novel is set in 1877 and is
the story of Alexia Travers, who must care for her father’s
horse ranch and make a successful living on her own. Miralee
Ferrell lives in rural Washington. She is the author of “The
Other Daughter,” and serves as a licensed minister actively
involved in ministry to women.
Country Dance June 13
The Second Saturday Country Dance is
scheduled for June 13, starting at 7 p.m. at the Rockford
Grange. The caller will be Bill Martin, a well-known dance
caller from Portland.
The band will be The Fiddleheads, a
nine-piece string band from the Columbia Gorge, with seven
fiddles one bass and one guitar.
Dance lessons will begin at 7 p.m.
All ages welcome and no partner is required. Enjoy an evening of
country squares, contras, circle dances and a few waltzes.
Admission is $6 for members, $7 for
non-members.
Don LaBarge plays CEBU
Singer-songwriter Don LaBarge will be
playing at the CEBU Lounge on Friday, June 5, from 7-9 p.m.
LaBarge will be playing original songs from his CD “Silver
Linings,” and select folk-rock covers.

Poole benefit at White House
A fundraiser for orchardist Don Poole
will be held Saturday, June 6, starting at 6 p.m. at The Gorge
White House. There will be music by SawCordius, an auction, food
and no-host beverages. Tickets are $10 with all proceeds going
to support Don Poole and his family after a recent farm
accident.
On Sunday, June 7, featured textile
artist of the month Judi Kane will hold a reception from 1-3

Free Shakespeare in the Gorge
The Portland Actors Ensemble presents a
production of “King Lear” on Saturday, June 20, at the
Stonehenge War Memorial in Goldendale, Wash. The play starts at
