Mary Bair

Mary Louise Bair, 85, passed away Jan. 27, 2010, at the Hood River Care Center and now she is in the arms of an angel. She was born June 14, 1924, in Alliance, Ohio, to Frank William and Edith Drucilla (Watts) Morgan.

Mary grew up in Alliance and had attended hospital elementary schools due to her many hospitalizations as a result of having polio; she later attended the Alliance Union High School.

She moved to Phoenix, Ariz., with her two daughters in the late 1950s where she worked and raised her girls. Mary took great pride in raising her daughters by herself. She remarried and moved to Yuma, Ariz., in the late 1960s, where she lived and worked until 2003 when she moved to Hood River to be near family.

In addition to being an active mother and homemaker, Mary worked in the restaurant and grocery business as a waitress, hostess and meat packer. She was a good bowler and won several awards and even had a 300 game to her credit, even though she had polio as a child.

Her hobby was “people” and she was a collector of friends. She loved socializing and made many friends along the journey of her life. In 2003 she moved to Down Manor, later to Hawks Ridge and most recently to the Hood River Care Center but at each stop she collected more friends.

Mary had a winning smile and loved to laugh. She also took pride in her appearance and instilled good traits to her daughters.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter Brenda; grandchildren, Tammy, Lori, Marilynn, Candace, Dawn, Brody, Wendy and McKenna; and many great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter Sandra Kaye, whom she dearly loved.
