College officials and Hood River community leaders shovel the ceremonial
first soil on the $6 million Columbia Gorge Community College Hood River
campus, during Tuesday’s groundbreaking ceremony. The campus is located on
the Heights at 12th and Pacific; construction will start this
month. Speakers included college president Frank Toda, Mayor Linda Streich
and CGCC Student Council president Andrew Burke. County Economic
Development Coordinator Bill Fashing also spoke, telling the 100 people in
attendance, "This is a huge opportunity for the college and for the
