Woman arrested for stealing from campground fee boxes

A woman was arrested Friday on numerous theft-related charges in Columbia River Gorge public and private parks during a seven-month period.

On May 11, Oregon State Police troopers from The Dalles Area Command office arrested Sarah Ann Kroeskop, 27, of The Dalles.

Kroeskop is accused of stealing, or attempting to steal, money from payment boxes in parks along Interstate 84 in the Columbia River Gorge. The thefts occurred in Hood River, Wasco and Sherman counties between October 2006 and April 2007.

The parks included Wyeth Park, which is a U.S. Forest Service facility, Deschutes River State Park, and the privately owned Rufus R.V. Park.

Kroeskop was lodged at Northern Oregon Regional Correctional Facility on the following charges:

n Theft in the Second Degree (three counts)

n Attempted Theft in the Second Degree (two counts)

n Theft in the Third Degree

n Possession of Burglar Tools (two counts)

n Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine).
