Oregon State Police reported that Frederick John
Sunderlin, 57, of Hillsboro, died Saturday afternoon while riding a
motorcycle westbound on Interstate 84 about 10 miles west of Hood River.
He was one of 10 people to die on Oregon highways over the Memorial Day
weekend.
Sunderlin was traveling west near milepost 54 on a ride
with a friend when his motorcycle veered to the right and struck a
guardrail, according to an Oregon State Police report.
He was ejected down a short embankment, according to the report. A
trooper arrived on scene a couple of minutes after the crash and attempted
CPR for 15 minutes. The Cascade Locks Fire Department medical personnel
also responded to the scene and declared Sunderlin deceased.
