A 4-H pack goat seminar has been organized
for June 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Parkdale. It will be held at the
Bruggeman residence at
5694 Trout Creek Ridge Road. Anyone interested in goats is
welcome to attend. Participants must pre-register by June 28 by calling
the OSU Extension office at 386-3343.
There is no cost for the seminar.
Participants should bring a lunch but there will be drinks available. If
not able to attend the full day, people can attend for as long as
possible.
The class is to help everyone learn about
pack goats and how to participate in the Pack Goat Class at the Hood River
County Fair. Donna Semasko from
Edelweiss Acres in
Olympia, Wash., has agreed to put on this extensive seminar.
Semasko will include information on the care
and feeding of goats, including information on types of plants and weeds
that are harmful for goats, handling the pack goats and showing pack
goats. She and her husband have been working with pack goats for 17 years
and teaching 4-H pack goats for 14 years. They have put together a manual
that will be distributed at this seminar.
