This moving van semi-trailer caught on fire at 1:45
a.m. Tuesday on Interstate 84 at milepost 48 near Cascade Locks. Fire
Chief Jeff Pricher said the cause is unknown but it is believed to be
mechanical in nature.
No one was injured even though there was ammunition or
fireworks in the back of the trailer. When firefighters responded there
were explosions from the back.
West Side Fire responded to assist Cascade Locks. It
took 45 minutes to bring the fire under control; but ensuring that the
fire was completely out took far longer because firefighters had to unpack
the moving van to make sure that there were no residual flames.
