Firefighters closed in and contained the Ball
Point Fire at 6 p.m. Sunday night.
But access remains limited under a partial
closure that continues for the Badger Creek Wilderness.
The fire topped out at 1,237 acres. The
incident base camp shifted from Dufur High School to Camp Cody on Monday.
The areas that remain closed to the public
include the entire Badger Creek Wilderness Area and trail system, and the
campgrounds of Bonnie Crossing, Little Badger and Badger Lake. The
following roads also remain closed until further notice:
- Forest Road 2700.
- Forest Road 2700 at the junction with Forest Road 2710.
- Forest Road 3550 at the junction with Forest Roads 4410 and 4420.
- Forest Road 3550 at the junction with Forest Road 4891.
- Forest Road 4860 at the junction with Forest Road 4810 and 4813.
- Forest Road 4811 at the junction with Forest Road 2710.
The temporary flight restriction over the
fire area was lifted at 8 p.m. Sunday night. The Fifteen Mile Campground
and three roads were reopened Saturday. Those include Forest Road 2730 at
the forest boundary, Forest Road 4420 at the junction with Forest Road
4421 and Forest Road 4410 at the junction with Forest Road 4400.
Firefighters worked Monday on patrolling,
pulling hose and rehabilitating constructed lines. As the weather warms up
during the week, islands of unburned fuel may burn and smoke may be
visible. This will be interior burning and not a threat to the contained
fire lines.
