The Mid-Columbia area fire
agencies remind area residents and visitors that all debris burning,
including incinerator use, has been banned in the Mid-Columbia area of
Oregon.
The rules went into effect on
Sunday and are in place until 11 p.m. on Sept. 14.
At that time, fire chiefs in Wasco
and Hood River counties will evaluate conditions. The ban may be extended
if needed. Some exceptions may be made for agricultural purposes but
permission must be granted by a local fire agency.
All current burn permits were void
as of Sunday and won’t be valid again until the burning ban is lifted.
This includes incinerator barrels as well as debris piles.
Restrictions are already in place
for campfires, barbecues, chain saw use, off-road vehicle use and smoking
in timber, brush and grass areas.
