County Centennial
kicks off on Jan. 31

January 25, 2008

The Hood River County Centennial Celebration Kick-off will be Jan. 31 at the Hood River County Library.

Hood River County celebrates 100 years in 2008. The community is invited to participate in events throughout the year, starting with the 4:30 to 6 p.m. kickoff at the library. A special program is planned at 5:15 p.m. featuring guest speakers from Hood River County, Cascade Locks and the Centennial Committee. Hood River County centennial families will be honored, along with representatives of the new generation of Hood River County.

“You can add to the celebration by coming in 1908 attire,” said Connie Nice of The History Museum of Hood River County and the Centennial Committee.

At the event the Centennial Committee will unveil the centennial poster “Celebrate The Century: Consider It All” which will be displayed throughout the county during this year (published at left).

For questions on this event or other centennial activities, or if your organization or business has an event or promotion that would fit into the centennial theme, please contact Sandi Lain in County Administration at 387-6825 or Nice at The History Museum at 386-6772.

Also, contact Lain or Nice if your family has resided consecutively in Hood River County for 100 years. The Centennial Committee would like to hear from you.
