The History Museum opens Wednesday, March 26 at 1 p.m. in Hood RIver.
The opening is the debut of this year's exhibit "100 Years, 100 Things",
in honor of Hood RIver County's Centennial Celebration and will feature
100 artifacts that are 100 years old or older.
The museum also has "new" hours for 2008 based on input provided by the
museum volunteers on how to better reach visitors and community members.
The new hours are:
April and October, open daily, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Blossom Fest weekend.
May through September, open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday
from 1 to 5 p.m.
Special extended family hours in July and August, open on Tuesday and
Thursday evenings until 7 p.m.
The History Museum will unveil a new timeline exhibit on the season
opening day. The timeline project was funded by a grant from the Meyer
Memorial Trust and features important dates and events from local and
national history. The timeline was designed and constructed by One+Two
Design Inc. from Portland.
In addition to the timeline, there are many new displays and exhibits
that showcase some of the artifacts held within the museum's permanent
collection, including a piece of groom's cake that is more than 100 years
old. The museum has also added a display honoring the 10th Mountain
Division from WWII and clothing displays of dresses from each decade of
the past century.
There is no charge to visit The History Museum but donations are
welcome.
