Citizens wanting to mark a ballot for or against the county fuel
fee have until the close of the workday Oct. 13 to become a
registered voter.
The fee, otherwise known as a gas tax, was approved by the Hood
River County Commission in July. However, the fee was
subsequently referred to voters by Let Hood River Vote, an
opposition citizen group.
Kim Kean, county elections supervisor, said brand-new voters may
still participate in the Nov. 4 general election if they
register by 5 p.m.
Oct. 13.
Voters who have been inactive or registered elsewhere in the
state can update their records as late as Election Day,
according to Kean.
She said residents making changes to their voter card at the
last minute will receive ballots over the counter.
The elections office is in the Records and Assessment Department
on the third floor of the county administration building,
601 State St.
