Work is underway on a project to repair deteriorating concrete sections of the Hood River Bridge on Interstate 84.

The work will require shifting I-84 eastbound traffic into I-84 westbound travel lanes. The traffic shift gives the contractor full access to the I-84 eastbound bridge deck.

The traffic shift will remain in place 24 hours a day until the project is complete at the end of November. During the traffic shift, one lane will remain open on I-84 in each direction.

To prevent motorists from entering the work zone, the contractor will close the Second Street on-ramp to I-84 eastbound for 10 days through Nov. 12.

Motorists should watch for large equipment and workers on the roadway.

ODOT is also doing work on I-84 at Cascade Locks interchange (milepost 44): Eastbound traffic has shifted to a new alignment over U.S. 30 (WaNaPa Street).

Expect daytime single-lane closures on I-84. Expect daytime one-way traffic controlled by flaggers on the roadway connecting U.S. 30 to S.E. Frontage Road (beneath I-84). Watch for roadside crews and construction equipment and construction vehicles exiting and entering the westbound travel lanes of I-84.

Also, expect daytime single-lane closures in each direction on I-84 over Herman Creek and Wyeth Roads (milepost 47).
