Hood River, when he saw the plume of smoke and went to the
scene. He recorded the images, above and below, of the dark wall
of smoke faced by firefighters and residents.

flames at the top of trees. Homes visible at right are the
Bungalows at Fox Hollow, which were threatened by the fire but
undamaged.
