Rural Development
Initiatives Inc. opens registration for its fifth annual
conference, “Regards to Rural V,” a gathering to “inform,
inspire and celebrate ... all that is rural,” according to an
RDI press release.
This unique gathering,
designed for leaders and volunteers from small communities, will
offer the rare opportunity to hear from world-renowned dynamic
presenters on topics critical to rural vitality.
“Regards to Rural V”
will be held at the Skamania Lodge located along the scenic
Columbia River Gorge opening Thursday evening, Oct. 25, and
concluding Saturday afternoon, Oct. 27.
Responding to increased
demand and a sold-out conference last year, pre-sessions are
once again scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 25. Added for 2007 are
sessions devoted solely to youth and those who work closely with
them, and RDI’s 15th Anniversary Celebration scheduled for
Friday, Oct. 26. Early registration will continue through Sept.
17. Space is limited and scholarships are available.
“The Regards to Rural
Conference offers the opportunity to learn, share, create and
take home innovative ideas and hands-on tools that you can
immediately put to use in your community,” said RDI Executive
Director Kathi Jaworski.
“Through inspiring
keynotes, five concurrent program tracks and time for
networking, you’ll gain practical skills for successful rural
community and economic development; learn about successful
community revitalization projects from near and far; connect
with other community leaders, funders and elected officials; and
recharge your energy for making a positive difference in your
community,” she said.
A 2006 conference
participant from Regards to Rural IV agrees: “Very real and
useful information, tips and techniques we can take home and put
to immediate use.”
Registrations received
before Sept. 17 receive an early-bird discount and cost $250 per
person.
After Sept. 17, the cost
is $300 per person, and late registration (after Oct. 12) is
$350 per person. For reservations, call (800) 221-7117.
