Wine celebration
helps Hospice

September 6, 2007

A fund-raising benefit combines area wines and a local nonprofit agency this weekend.

A regional wine tasting and auction will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, at Divots Restaurant on the Indian Creek Golf Course in Hood River.

This is the fourth year of the event, which features a showcase of Columbia Gorge wines. Columbia Gorge Winegrowers is one of the event’s two sponsors.

The second sponsor, Hospice of the Gorge, is a nonprofit organization that formed in 1986 as the Mid-Columbia Hospice. In 1994, Hospice of the Gorge received a new name, a larger service area and Medicare certification.

Tickets cost $35 in advance or $40 at the door and are available at Klindt’s Booksellers in The Dalles, Waucoma Bookstore in Hood River, Collage of the Gorge in White Salmon, Columbia Gorge Winegrowers in The Dalles and Hospice of the Gorge in either The Dalles or Hood River.

The event schedule includes:

n 5:30-7:30 p.m. — Wine tasting

n 7:30-8:30 p.m. — Live auction followed by sparkling wine toast

n Hors d’oeuvres served throughout the evening

n Musical guests will be Rick Hulett and Kat Cogswell from Django’s Cadillac
