Celilo Restaurant starts 'Farm Dinner Series'

September 5, 2007

Celilo Restaurant and Bar, located in downtown Hood River, announces the first in its Farm Dinner Series, to be held Thursday, Sept.13, at 6:30 p.m.

This dinner will feature local grower Dancing Moon Farm, and specialty ranch producer Thundering Hooves Farm of Walla Walla, Wash.

Designed to showcase farmers in the same manner that wine growers are showcased in the more familiar “wine dinner” series, these innovative dinners use the bounty of each farm as the foundation of a memorable meal, complete with presentation and discussions with the farmer, chef and other special guests who attend the meal.

The dinners consist of four courses, paired with tasting portions of regional wines selected by Celilo, and include presentation and discussion with Chef Ben Stenn, and the farmers.

Dancing Moon Farm is a local CSA and vendor at Celilo. Many ingredients on the plates served are from Dancing Moon. More information about the farm can be found at www.dancingmoonfarm.com.

Thundering Hooves is owned by fourth-generation Walla Walla ranchers who are responsibly raising pork and other products using unique, earth- and community-friendly methods, as well as interesting distribution models (buying clubs and farm-direct distribution) to sell their products. Check them out on the Web as well: www.thunderinghooves.net.

Tickets are $50 per person and include dinner, wine and gratuity. They are limited to 50 per evening, and are available by calling Celilo at (541) 386-5710.
