Highway 35 will be closed Oct. 1, 2
and 3 rather than next week. The Oregon Department of
Transportation announced the changes Friday. ODOT spokesman Mike
Mason said the changes were due to a request from a contractor
to have the Iron Creek culvert repairs done during the final
days instead of in the middle of the project.
“We need to close to put in a
particularly deep culvert, which requires a lot of digging,”
Mason said. “Unfortunately with the Iron Creek closure there is
no detour.”
Highway 35 will be closed from 5
a.m. on Oct. 1 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 3 at milepost 62. The last of
emergency repair work to fix damages from last winter is being
completed this summer on Mount Hood.
Culverts are being installed under
the road between the White River at milepost 61 and the East
Fork of the Hood River at milepost 78. |
