On Monday night, the Hood River County
commissioners decided to initiate a county comprehensive plan
amendment as a way to review the Port of Hood River airport
master plan.
“It’s to make sure it is coordinated with the
county’s other transportation goals,” said Mike Doke, the port’s
marketing director.
Commissioners had the most questions about
the port’s plan to possibly shift the runway. Chuck Thomsen
asked how the airport would shift the runway. Doke replied that
to do so would require abandoning part of Orchard Road.
“But before we were to move forward at all,
we would expect to have public input.”
