Ty Erickson will be the
new chief executive for Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital
and the Providence Columbia Gorge Service Area.
Providence Health and
Services – Oregon Region announced in a press release Monday
that Erickson comes to Hood River from his current position as
chief executive of Falls Memorial Hospital in International
Falls, Minn. He will begin his Hood River post on Oct. 29.
“Ty Erickson has a
strong background in health care, both as a hospital leader and
as a consultant,” says Terry Smith, chief operating officer for
Providence Oregon Region. “We think he is a great fit for Hood
River.”
Previously, Erickson had
served as vice president and division director of Sacred Heart
Hospital in Eau Claire, Wis., which is part of a 13-hospital
health system. He has a wide range of experience in working with
employees, physicians, community members, hospital boards and
foundations. He also has been a leader in overseeing new
construction projects and implementing growth strategies.
“I feel humbled to be
coming to such a great hospital and community,” said Erickson.
“Providence Hood River’s strong reputation, core values and
dedication to its Mission are just some of the qualities I find
attractive. I am also eager to return to work in a faith-based
health care organization.” He and his wife, Karin, are expecting
their first child this month.
Erickson received
master’s degrees in health administration and business
administration from St. Louis University and his bachelor’s
degree from the University of Wisconsin. He is a member of the
American College of Healthcare Executives and various civic
organizations.
Erickson succeeds James
Arp, who served as Hood River’s chief executive for two years.
Last spring Arp took an administrative position at Providence
Portland Medical Center. Since April, Providence Hood River has
been under the leadership of Interim Chief Executive John
Schwartz. Schwartz will stay into early November to assist
Erickson in his transition.
“I want to thank John Schwartz for his
strong and positive leadership during this transition,” said
Smith. “John has served Providence in several interim
capacities, and his contributions are much appreciated.”
