The Port of Cascade Locks will be able to
replace its aging pump out station due to a grant from the
Oregon State Marine Board.
The agency board met Sept. 27 in Madras and
voted to approve replacing the pump out station and relocating
it to the end of the transient dock, which is closer to the
entrance of the boat basin. Administrative Assistant Kris
Miller, who prepared the grant, said the old pump station was
more than 10 years old.
The approved grant totals $52,000, with $39,000
from Clean Vessel Act funds and $13,000 from state boater funds.
“That is 100 percent! We’re ecstatic,” said Port
of Cascade Locks Executive Director Chuck Daughtry. “It won’t
require any matching funds from the port.”
The Marine Board had been in Cascade Locks on a
tour a few months ago when Miller and Daughtry showed them the
situation. Miller said the board was incredibly helpful in
meeting the port’s needs and expediting the process. The Marine
Board meets again in January.
