The Hood River County
Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee is hosting a
Measure 49 Forum on Oct. 23 from 6-8 p.m. at Hood River Middle
School, 1602 May St., in Hood River.
On Nov. 6, Oregonians
will be asked to vote on proposed legislation that addresses
issues raised by Measure 37. After months of discussion and
research, Measure 49 was written to address the potential impact
of Measure 37 to Oregonians.
Dave Meriwether, county
administrator, will emcee the forum.
Brief presentations will
be made by State Representative Brian Clem, Dist. 21; Dave
Hunnicutt, Oregonians in Action; Mike McCarthy, Hood River
Valley Residents Committee; and John Benton, Hood River County
Agriculture and Forestland Owners Association.
Presentations will be
followed by a question and answer period.
“We are excited to bring
the key advocates — pro and con — regarding Measure 49 to our
community,” said Mary Gumm, chair of the Government Affairs
Committee. “I’m sure it will be an informative event”.
