Blood drive visits
Gorge Nov. 23

November 14, 2007

The Gorge Thanksgiving Blood Drives return Friday, Nov. 23, at Hood River Elks Lodge, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and The Dalles’ St. Peter’s Parish, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

To make an appointment to donate a pint, call 386-3669 in Hood River and (541) 296-9322 in The Dalles.

Many people will need blood this holiday season, according to the American Red Cross. Blood donations are needed to treat people who have gone through surgery and experienced accidents. This is in addition to the patients of cancer and other diseases who depend on an adequate blood supply each and every day.

Donors must meet minimum age requirements (16-year-olds in Oregon need parental consent; in Washington, 16- and 17-year-olds need parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and be in generally good health. Donors can give whole blood every eight weeks.
