With 20 inches of
snow at the top of the Mt. Hood Express and 14 inches at the
base area, commercial skiing achieved the vaunted “Thanksgiving
Weekend opening” status.
Meadows opened
Friday for the season but skiers and boarders need to go
carefully. The opening is officially limited.
“While the
coverage is thin, our awesome slope grooming, lift maintenance
and vehicle shop crews have been working very hard to achieve a
limited opening on Friday,” said Meadows chairman Matthew Drake
Friday in his blog on Meadows’ Web site www.skihood.com.
Two lifts —
Buttercup and Easy Rider — operate from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with
limited terrain offerings off of each of these lifts.
See the Web site
for information on tickets and available services, and “Matt’s
Blog” for regular photo updates. |
