The City of Hood River is holding one special
meeting in December and has moved up the regular meeting that
would have taken place on Christmas Eve.
On Monday, council members will tour the fire
department at 6 p.m. Chief Jeff Walker will present information
on the need for a new station and equipment upgrades. Officials
are considering whether to bring a $4.5-million bond levy before
voters in May.
The money would be used to build another
facility and/or purchase needed vehicles and safety items.
The meeting rescheduled from Dec. 24 to Dec.
17 begins at 6 p.m. in the municipal courtroom at the junction
of Second and State streets. The agenda of topics for discussion
has not yet been finalized.
The regular meeting of Dec. 10th also takes
place in the courtroom. On the agenda is the second reading of
an ordinance that seeks to protect riparian areas near the Hood
River Inn and the economic interests of the business.
Also under consideration is a bidding process
for the first phase of construction on Lot 6, the city’s
waterfront park parcel. Work on the $1.2 million project could
begin in February.
