The wind has died down
and high waters have receded in flood-ravaged areas of western
Oregon and Washington.
The needs of communities in those areas
now center on clean-up and identifying and providing medical and
other relief for people whose homes and businesses have been
lost or damaged. Not long after Gov. Ted Kulongoski declared a
statewide state of emergency, Hood River-based efforts went to
work. Here are two stories of how people in Hood River have
reached out.
