MHCC kids race May 16

The Mid-Columbia Medical Center Kids race, part of the the Mount Hood Cycling Classic, will be held in The Dalles on May 16. Kids are invited to join the festivities surrounding the pro race by racing themselves on a smooth, fast course located in downtown The Dalles. The event will be free to all participants.

The race is open to children from training wheelers to 12-year-olds. Kids will get a chance to race on a criterium course that will run around the Columbia River Bank corporate offices. The race will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Streets will be closed to traffic between 6 and 9 p.m.

Categories will run in two-year increments starting at 4 years and  younger. Awards will be given to the top three placers in each category.

The race is limited to 250 participants. Registration will open at 4:30 p.m. next to Salmon Cycles. Parking will be available at Oregon Cherry Growers on Madison Street.

Community Ed events upcoming

Several Community Education athletic events are coming up soon. The Hershey's Track and Field Meet for ages 9-14 will be held Tuesday, May 27, at 6 p.m. at HRVHS.  

All first place finishers at this regional meet qualify for the Oregon state meet. Cost for the event is $1 per child. 

Community Education will also host two track meets for kids ages 2 and up June 3 and 10 at HRVHS with starts at 6 p.m. Cost is $1 per child.

Pre-school soccer clinics for children ages 3-5 will be held June 19 and 20 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Westside Elementary. Cost is $8 per child and is session is limited to 50 children.

Coed soccer for grades K-2 starts June 24 and runs through  July 29. Teams are forming in Parkdale, Odell and Hood River.

Cost is $39 per player. Practices and games are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Registration deadline in June 13.

Burruss, Robertson, win ICMGA net play

The team of Tony Burruss and Mark Robertson won the Tuesday, May 6, Indian Creek Men's Golf Association Two Men Combined Net Play with a net score of 149.  Ron Yamashita and John Lozowski were second at net 153.   Brian Shortt and Sid Jarrell were third at 153.  Felix Tomlinson got the KP on hole number 5.

The ICMGA will be hosting a Two Men Scramble Chapman Tournament May 17. Sign-up are available at the pro shop.
