After a season that saw
them finish as one of the top eight teams in the state, the Hood
River Valley boys soccer team can now say it has two of the top
players in the state.
The Eagles Diego Diez
and Filepe Heredia were both named in the 6A All-State boys
soccer team. Diez picked up a second- team nod, while Heredia
was named to the honorable-mention list.
Diez, a senior, was an
important piece of the Eagles’ scoring attack this year, dishing
out assists, scoring goals, and providing a steady leadership in
the Eagles’ mid-field.
Heredia, a sophomore,
had a breakout year for the Eagles from his midfield slot,
wrecking havoc on opponents’ defenses, and scoring several key
goals during the Eagles’ run to the state playoffs.
