Hawk boys continue
roll into league

January 9, 2008

Another weekend, another two wins for the Horizon boys basketball team. The Hawks pushed the record to 13-0 and roared into Big Sky Conference League play with routs of Crook County and Griswold last weekend.

Horizon 69 Crook County 46

On Friday the Hawks topped Crook County 69-46 thanks to first half that saw them go up by 27 at the break.

The Hawks turned the ball over only twice in the first and dominated rebounding to take Crook County of the game by halftime.

Bobby Cofrances led the way for the Hawks with 28 points, including a 5-of-7 effort from beyond the three-point stripe, and Josh Larson rang up another double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds.

Horizon 77 Griswold 32

The Hawks picked up where they left off the night before when they beat Griswold 77-32 on Saturday. The Hawks again dominated from the outset, going up 50-15 at halftime. The Hawks could have stopped scoring there and still topped Griswold’s game total.

Adam Ohlson led the Pirates with 24 points, while Bobby Cofrances added 23 and Josh Larson contributed 15. Larson also pulled down 16 rebounds in the game.

The Hawks were scheduled to play at Cascade Locks on Tuesday, but snow postponed that contest until next Tuesday. Horizon plays at Sherman on Friday.

Horizon girls 36 Central Christian 27

While its male counterparts rolled on, the Hawks girls team picked up its first league win of the year by leading Central Christian the entire way in a 36-27 win.

“They had a great defensive effort and were hitting the boards hard for rebounds,” Horizon coach Stan Perkins said.

Anna Berthold led the Hawks with 13 points.
