Eagle boys drop final
game of road stretch

April 23, 2008

Before its season started, the Hood River Valley lacrosse team, to the man, named beating Oregon Episcopal School as one of its goals for the season.

They will now have to wait for round two to make good on that goal.

The Aardvarks beat a shorthanded Eagle squad 11-5 Friday night at OES to improve their record to 7-2 on the season.

“This is a game were OES played well and we did not,” HRV coach Mac Jackson said. “We struggled at both ends of the field and did not execute well on offense or defense.”

The loss ended a long string of road games for the Eagles on a low note, but Jackson said he hopes to see improvement now that the team will have its first home game since March.

HRV, missing leading scorer and co-captain Eli Camero, found itself in six-goal hole by halftime and never recovered.

The Eagles did see some improvement in faceoffs, with Peter Debbaut winning 76 percent of his faceoffs, and the HRV defense was able to clear the ball out of its own end 74 percent of the time.

Jacob Bohince led the HRV scoring effort with two goals. Jon Love added a goal and an assist, while Henry Hunt and Max Watson each had a goal and Peter Debbaut and Max Kline each had an assist.

The Eagles were scheduled to host Grant on Tuesday and then travel to Portland to face Cleveland on Thursday.
