Max
Gorman of Hood River Valley and Philip Stenberg of Horizon both
wrapped up their golf seasons last week by placing in the middle
of the fields in the 6A tournament and 3A/2A/1A tournament,
respectively.
At the
6A tournament at Trysting Tree Golf Course in Corvallis, Gorman
shot a 162 to finish tied for 56th overall. He shot an 80 on the
first day and an 82 on the second day.
Overall,
he birdied four holes in the tournament, but a quadruple bogey
on hole 18 on the first day provided a significant setback.
Jeff
Petroff of Jesuit was the overall individual champion with a 137
and Jesuit won the team title as well.
At
Emerald Valley Golf Course in Creswell, Stenberg finished 59th
overall after he shot a 187.
Stenberg
had a rough start, going 26 over par on the first day after
several double and triple bogies, but recovered on the second
day to move up 13 spots in the standings.
Horizon
coach Oscar Stenberg hopes the second day performance bodes well
for the team next year.
“Everyone comes back for us next year,” he said. “And hopefully
they’ll be able to start in the 368-370 range and work their way
down from there.”
